Evaluation/summary

This summary is divided into sections of service, action and creativity.

Service: I did a number of different projects for service. Some were rather minor, like helping handing out candy at the day care and being an ambassador. These projects were not planned by be in the first place, and therefore I had not an 'underlying thought' with it. I was happy to help though, as I enjoy doing so.

Longer service projects, for example making a short film and knitting for sending away clothes had been planned in advance. The film has been used more than I had planned which is a good thing. It was meant to be shown at our class' CAS-show, but was also shown at for example Öppet hus at the school. I have made film before, but not one like this, so it definitely helped me improve my film making skills. About the knitting... I have now realised I should have done something else. My knitting skills are not very good, but I had hoped to improve these. Since the time between the times I knitted were rather long however I did not improve the slightest. Therefore it took too long, and the clothes me and Sofia sent away did not include anything I had knitted. (I will continue this project and give away the things later though.) What I could have done different is to have planned better or perhaps choose another way of producing clothes.

Action: I have  been jogging, swimming and on some occasions skiing, but the greatest and best-working part of my action project has been the cycling. Although my planning has not been that good (my greatest weakness I have realised during CAS), I have succeeded in cycling on a regular basis in the summer/autumn/spring - only sometimes in winter. I noticed that this has been good not only for my physical health but also for my mental well-being. When I exercise regularly I have been feeling happier, which is great.

Creativity: I have tried to integrate the service-part as much as possible in my creativity by thinking 'sustainability' and making all 'art' with as much recycled things as possible. For example I have made pictures out of old cardboard pieces and candy paper. The idea is perhaps better than the actual result, as I have use many non-recyclable elements such as glue, which is not very good for the environment.

Furthermore I have writing poetry and a short story. I have developed my writing technique when it comes to poetry and also written my first English poems - which I thought I'd never do. Writing poetry also works as a help of getting to know yourself better. Also, I have become better when it comes to planning what to write. Before I never planned, but now sometimes before I write a poem I can plan structure and things like that, which helps me produce 'better' poems.

--

Overall, what could have been done better is planning. I am not a planning sort of person and I realise I need to practise that. There has been some improvement, but not enough.

Major update on everything

Creativity:

I have sewn bows of an old shirt. They became brooches and hairclips. They are all hand-sewn. The purpose was to recycle

Time: about 8 hours (each bow took at least an hour to sew - in the beginning it was more - and then there is preparation time as well)

I also made four bows which I decided to put on a t-shirt - upcycling. Unfortunately the glue (which was supposed to be water-resistant and used for fabrics) came off when I washed the t-shirt.

Time: 7 hours

Action:
Since September have not been using my bike that frequently even though I have "winter-tyres" - it's just been so cold. I think my average speed is lower than before, about 23 minutes per 6.2 km. It is a long time since September though, and the number of times I've been going back and forth is 42 times.

Time: (about) 16 hours 6 minutes.

Service:

I made the "Welcome to the IB"-film. Actually, I regret not having done more films/short films since I really do like it.

Time: Including preparing, filming and cutting it must have been at least 15 hours.

I was ambassador at Öppet Hus at school, which meant handing out flyers/brochures about the IB-programme.

Time: Might have been 2-3 hours.

Me and Sofia have had the "knitting project" where we were supposed to knit stuff that we were to send to children in Russia. I have been doing quite a lot of knitting, but I must really be the slowest person on earth when it comes to that 'cause the scarf I have been working on is nowhere near finished. Not even halfway yet, how embarrassing. But now we will send what Sofia have made and some of my old clothes to Lithuania.

Time: 10.5 hours (It's way more, but that would be too embarrassing to admit. I really need to improve my knitting skills.)

Me, Dea and Sofia went to our teacher Gunilla's son's daycare to be Santas. We handed out candy (from the parents) to the children. This one kid got really scared of Dea, who was Father Christmas, and started to cry. So cute.

Time: Not exceeding one hour, I think.

Poem: Höstens suckar

Hösten drar djupa suckar över Terese som
tröttnade på sällskapsspel med familjen och
nu dricker häxblandningar på förfester innan
hon drar vidare till barer där
klänningen plötsligt känns kort då
pojken blir lite för snäll och
inte är särskilt gullig längre.
Hon vill kanske hem igen.

Nicklas som var mobbad får
himlen att gråta när
han tar ut sin frustration på
ungar som är fem år yngre och
dövar sin smärta genom
att föra över den på andra.
Slag efter slag efter slag
– men ångesten bara växer.

Sandra ville bli sedd så
hon ristade in ”hjälp” på armarna men
folk tittade bort medan
de hoppades att det skulle självläka
– resultatet blev tvärtom.
Nu har hon bestämt sig att
ta fler tabletter än nödvändigt för
ingen bryr sig ju ändå och
ikväll blåser det upp till storm.

Don't have much to say about this one.
Time: 45 minutes to write and perhaps half an hour to re-write.

Poem/or something similar: Ursäkta röran. Tankar under konstruktion.

Och det är nu som det är meningen att man ska leva,
men om man inte känner att man lever då
utan bara står och stampar och stampar,
försöker föra den ena foten framför den andra,
fast den landar på samma ställe som innan,
i n g e t händer
så varför försöker man överhuvudtaget?

Fast ibland hamnar ju faktiskt den ena foten nån millimeter längre fram,
då blir man lycklig (fast egentligen kanske bara glad) och tror att man är påväg nånstans,
äntligen, äntligen, går det f r a m å t
som jag har längtat, kämpat
vad härligt när arbete ger resultat

Å andra sidan var det inte så mycket till resultat,
kom en liten bit fram där allt var likadant
och vad var då meningen med nåt?
Nu skiter jag i det här!

Just a state of mind kind of poem I wrote a month ago. Time: I think it was about half an hour or less If you feel like leaving a comment, you'd make me happy. :) Even if you did not like it.

Service and action

I had two Finnish people staying at my house. 10 hours

I've been doing quite a lot of biking the last couple of weeks (trots att ena däcket är halvt punka fastän det blivit lagat en gång). Forgot to put that on jogg.se, so I'll put it here instead.
The average speed has been about 22 minutes per 6.2 km (21 to school and 23 home) and I've been going back and forth 26 times. 9 hours 32 minutes In the future, the result and time will probably be available at jogg.se again.
Also, I thought I should start running again, it's been a while since the last time.

Short story

I am now working on a short story. It's in Swedish.
The time it's taken so far is approx 2 hours of planning and writing.
I'll tell more about it later.

Poem: Upside down

The world is turned upside down
I have to stand on my hands
to see things in the right way
though in the light of the day
there is no black or white,
merely different shades of grey

Somehow they forgot to mention
just how hard life could be
when becoming a grownup
on a globe were people get blown up
and nothing that you can do;
the guilty will not own up

So here's another try with some more structure. All three (now two) stanzas are made up of six lines. The third, fourth and sixth line of every stanza rhymes, and all lines have six-eight syllabuses.

Please do comment.

Time: One and a half hour, at least.
